Welcome to I Egg You, a charming and vibrant breakfast and lunch haven in the heart of Capitol Hill. At the core of our culinary adventure is the humble egg, elevated to new heights by the imaginative minds of Scott Drewno and Danny Lee from The Fried Rice Collective. Their other brands include Anju, ChiKo, and District Catering.

Our Story: I Egg You began as a beloved pop-up and has now proudly established its permanent nest as a full-service, brick-and-mortar destination. Our journey is rooted in a simple philosophy: transforming the everyday egg into an extraordinary culinary experience.

Our Menu: Morning or midday, our doors open to a world where eggs aren’t just for breakfast anymore. We offer an inventive menu featuring stuffed breakfast sandwiches crafted with the freshest, locally sourced ingredients from esteemed partners like Shilla Bakery, Logan Sausage, Ivy City Smokehouse, and La Colombe Coffee. Each dish is a testament to our commitment to quality and community.

But that's not all - our lunch offerings go beyond the morning classics, providing a perfect blend for those seeking a fulfilling meal well into the afternoon and early evening. Whether you are craving a hearty brunch or a light and satisfying lunch, our menu caters to all palates and preferences.

Our Space: Nestled in a 1,800-square-foot space, I Egg You is designed to offer a cozy yet vibrant dining experience. With seating for 60 guests, our restaurant is an inviting spot for small gatherings or solo visits. As the day progresses, the ambiance of our eatery evolves, offering a full-service bar with an extensive selection of breakfast cocktails, specialty coffee, and tea. In the evening, the space transforms, serving as a bespoke venue for private events and celebrations. Click here for more information to book a party at The Shell.

Our Promise: At I Egg You, we're more than just a restaurant; we're a community. We aim to be a staple in the neighborhood, a place where warmth and attentive service are as important as the quality of our food. Whether you're joining us for a quick coffee, a leisurely brunch, or a lunch meet-up, we promise an experience that's not just satisfying but also truly memorable.

Scott Drewno and Danny Lee

In 2006, Danny Lee, alongside his mother Yesoon, laid the foundation for Mandu, DC’s inaugural full-service Korean restaurant. Rooted in tradition, Mandu became a cherished community spot, expanding to a second location in DC's Mount Vernon Triangle. In 2017, Danny joined forces with Chef Scott Drewno to co-found The Fried Rice Collective, shaping a collaborative culinary journey that has left an indelible mark.

Scott Drewno's culinary passion took root amidst the scenic beauty of New York’s Finger Lakes wine region. Joining the Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group in 1998, he immersed himself in the fusion of French techniques and vibrant Asian flavors. In 2007, Drewno's ascent reached its peak when Wolfgang Puck appointed him as the opening Executive Chef of The Source. Drewno's culinary acumen earned accolades, including the esteemed "Chef of the Year" prize and three-star reviews, becoming milestones in his remarkable career.

Together, Lee and Drewno embarked on a new chapter, co-creating CHIKO in 2017—a culinary haven offering modern Chinese and Korean cuisine. The unexpected success of CHIKO, marked by three-star ratings and James Beard Award nominations, showcased their joint commitment to culinary excellence. Lee's journey took an unforeseen turn with the fire at Mandu, leading to the creation of Anju in 2019. This vibrant establishment, blending traditional Korean flavors with modern techniques, earned acclaim, including a 3.5-star rating from The Washington Post.

In 2022, Danny Lee's impactful contributions were honored with the title of "Restaurateurs of the Year" by the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington. Meanwhile, Scott Drewno continued to extend his culinary influence beyond the kitchen through charitable competitions and community engagement.
